USAGE INSIGHTS
How do I track daily, weekly, or monthly active users over time?
Upshot does not provide weekly active users, we simply don’t find it useful. View your MAUs and DAUs in the Audience section.
Monthly Active Users
A monthly active user is a user who has had at least one session in that month. This report will provide the monthly active users view based on a date range selection.
Daily Active Users
A daily active user is a user that has at least one session on that day. This report will provide the daily active users view based on a date range selection.
How do I know my month on month retention?
- Go to the retention section, regular retention report.
- Select a time range more than 30 days, we recommend selecting 6 months of time
- The report shows month on month retention.
How do I get the answer to “How often do users use feature x in the app”?
Use event reports to see how often an event was triggered in the app. For example,Here you can see the number of times the event ‘Purchased’ occurred after performing an “Add to cart”.
Where can I see the distribution of users by location?
You can see the location distribution in the following ways:
Geography - based on Sessions
Split By - Each report has a split by country option available
Why are monetisation reports showing no data unavailable?
The report needs to know what is the conversion event and attribute for your app. Go to the top right corner to set these. Choose the conversion event and revenue attribute.
Conversion Event: The event that has the revenue attribute. For e.g. order confirmation is the event for an ecommerce app
Revenue Attribute: The event order confirmation has an attribute called “total cart value”. The numbers in this attribute will be used by all revenue reports.
How do I determine my most engaged or highest value users?
Determining your most engaged users is critical for a successful app. Once you understand exactly who your most valuable users are you can create acquisition campaigns to attract similar users, establish in-app campaigns to drive other users to make the same behaviors, and send promotions via email to reward them for their engagement.
To identify your most engaged users:
- Build a segment of users that completed critical app events.
- Create audiences to filter on event counts as well as profile information.
- Compare 1, 7, 14, N, day retention pre and post release of a new app version.
- Create funnels to determine key events in the flow to conversion.
- Compare ARPPU (average revenue per paying user) of users that have used a feature vs. ARPPU of users who have not used a feature.
How do I create a custom view of my favorite reports?
Go to the report you want in the dashboard in the reports section. Click on “add to dashboard” available on the top right corner of the report. This report will be added to the dashboard. You can go to the dashboard and remove reports you don’t need.
